Best Places to Live as an Expat in Accra

Ghana has very wonderful places to live in. There are beaches, clubs, restaurants, malls and other wonderful places to enjoy in Accra. As an expat in Accra, you might be in a predicament as to where to stay. Accra is a large city and where to stay will mainly depend on your objectives in Accra. We would like to share some great neighbourhoods that you can live in whenever you are in Accra.

Airport Residential Area

This residential area is located within the airport vicinity and is a favourite for most expats in Ghana because of its central location. There are also a host of great schools for children within the area; and all the roads are well done. The proximity to the airport and the central business district is one of the best features of living in the Airport Residential Area.

Cantonments

The Cantonments enclave is another preferred neighbourhood for expats in Accra. This is mainly because the area is in close proximity to the 37 military camp which adds an extra level of security to the neighbourhood. 

The Cantonments area is also home to many foreign diplomats. You can get very sleek fully furnished apartments to rent in Cantonments that will meet all your needs.

Osu

Osu is known as the heart of Accra in most circles. The old town of Osu has lots of history within it and some very old buildings from the Gold Coast Era. New developments have transformed the old Osu to a new urban hotspot for all. Expats love to experience the vibrant Ghanaian nightlife of Osu. 

The roads are well done and quite narrow, to say the least. Osu is located very close to the beach so you could take a 5-minute drive to the beautiful beaches of Accra from Osu. Apartments in Osu are also very comfortable and rather generous in size. There are lots of restaurants and banks within the residential-commercial area in Accra.

Labone

Labone

Labone is a coastal town in Accra with easy access to the beach. If you like to work and play, Labone is the place to be. It is also great if you want to have access to major roads and scenic routes within Accra. 

The apartments in Labone are plush and mostly of international standards. Expats like to call this place home since it is connected to a very unique part of the city.

Roman Ridge

The ridge that is popularly known as Roman ridge is a beautiful location within the centre of the city. If you want to be located in the centre of town but without the cacophony of bustling business, Roman Ridge is the best place to live. 

There are great facilities and amenities within the area that any expat in Ghana would enjoy. The apartments are breathtaking and fully furnished to meet the sophisticated needs expats have come to be associated with.

East Legon

East legon

East Legon is one of the most popular towns within Accra. Some roads are very well done and the security within the neighbourhood is quite good. Apartments here are spectacular with facilities and amenities that any expat would love to have. 

East Legon has many entertainment spots, gyms, cinemas, shopping malls and shopping centres. East Legon is just about an 11-minute drive from the Kotoka International Airport.
