Established, 1965 in Ghana by Prof. Joshua Alabi, she uncovered her new name from the old institutional acronym: Institute of Professional Studies (IPA) to University of Professional Studies Accra.
IPA (Institute of professional studies has been restructured and umbrellaed to the University of professional studies.

Admission Information: The University welcomes applications from qualified candidates for admission to its Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Diploma programs for the 2017/2018 scholastic year. Candidates should observe the accompanying directions:

  • Every single qualified candidate is firmly encouraged to painstakingly read all pertinent data including guidelines and affirmation pre requisites for undergraduate and postgraduate candidates before applying.
  • The University now runs the accompanying new projects to be specific: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management, Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations Management, Diploma in Information Technology Management and Diploma in Public Relations Management.
  • The Bachelor of Business Administration program has no choices. Candidates proposing to take first-degree program in Accounting are informed to settle on Bachelor with respect to Science in Accounting.

  1. Payment of Fees

    Continuing candidates are to pay the befitting Academic Facility Fees at any of the branches of the following banks:

    • Weekend School Students – Ecobank
    • Mainstream Students – Access Bank or Ecobank being based on the bank stated in the Admission letter of the candidate.
  2. After payment, you should visit the UPSA Interpay information website page https://www.interpayafrica.com/upsa/student to disburse the payment which was made at the bank.Note: (i) It is NOT POSSIBLE to disburse academic facility user fees paid at Ecobank on the interpay. Please present your Ecobank pay- in-slips to Students Account Office located on the 1st Floor of Access Bank branch for assistance in case of any difficulty.(ii) It takes a minimum of 24hours to register after payment has been made.
  3. Course Registration

    You after making payment and disbursing your payment, you should proceed to register your course online. The student should access the registration portal by logging on to https://upsaip.com/student.

    You should then print out two(2) copies of your PROOF OF REGISTRATION SLIP upon successfully completing your online registration.

  4. Submit your Proof of Registration Slips for Endorsement

    You should submit the Proof of Registration slips to the Department Officer for approval and endorsement. When done, a copy of the SLIP will be given to the student. Weekend students will follow the same processor after payment but will be submitted to the Weekend School Secretariat. After this process, you are done with your Academic Course Registration.

  • UPSA Courses

    The University of Professional Studies offers professional courses, undergraduate degree programmes, short courses and diploma programmes.
    Their faculty is currently made up of the following:

    Faculty

    • Management Studies: This faculty focus on world-class human resource and train students to develop personal and organizational skills to meet national or state, public, federal, government, civic, civil and global challenges through quality teaching, studying and research.
      The Management faculty supports both undergraduate and post-graduates courses which impact the tutee with a wealth of academic resources, personal growth, skills expertise and work flexibility.
    • Institute of professional studies (IPS): The Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) is under the board of directors and management them main University. The IPA establishment is authorised to initiate continuing Professional education, consultancies, and other income generating activities relating or applicable to teaching and education. The following are the courses under the IPA.
    • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) U.K.
    • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) U.K.
    • Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA) U.K.
    • Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG).
    • Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) U.K.
  • Accounting and Finance: The Accounting and Finance Faculty of the educational institution was established in the 2005-2006 Academic year offering Banking and Finance and Actuarial Science education in Ghana. Headed by Mr. Kwodjo Obeng who serves as the current dean.
    The accounting Faculty consists of two Departments: Departments of Accounting and Banking and Finance. These two departments offer undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programs.With over 6000 student population, the academic consist of distinguished scholars, researchers and highly qualified professionals with advanced academic degrees in various fields. The following courses/programmes are offered by the Accounting and Finance departments.

    The Communication Faculty has two departments; namely, the Department of Information Technology and the Department of Public Relations.

    The communication department is located on the third floor of the Lecture Block Complex and Office building.
    The Communication Faculty was established in 2008 to run a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Bachelor of Science in Information Technolgy Management.
    They also offer Diploma Programmes in Public Relations Management and Information Technology Management.

Fees Schedule

Student Fees: The fee payment schedule has been constituted by the establishment, instructing students to pay fees before the beginning of a new academic year.

Fees approved at the university consist the academic facility user fees, residential facility fees and miscellaneous charges.
The following is the policy for the fee payment.

  • Fees are not subject to increase once enlisted on a scholastic program as a student.
  • Fees charged per scholastic year should be paid by two portions i.e. half toward the start of the main semester and the remaining half toward the begin of the second semester. Full installment (100%) or payment will be acknowledged if the student can manage.
  • A student banished or suspended or pulled back or rejected under the University policies or system is not qualified for a discount as determined in the students’ handbook.
