Located between Achimota and Nsawam, Tantra Hill is one of the residential areas of the Ga West District. Tantra Hill is surrounded by other communities including Taifa, Achimota, Dome, Mile 7 and Sowutuom. It is a quiet neighbourhood with residents who are mostly migrants. This area is for professionals who are seeking accommodation that is relatively close to their workplaces.

Properties

Tantra Hill boasts of a large number of properties built by individuals and families, to live in themselves or to rent out, hence the high number of rentals in the neighbourhood. Many other apartments serve as rooms for students, due to the numerous schools in the neighbourhood.

Buying land is more difficult, and the prices have become high, due to the development of the neighbourhood and the road construction works that were completed a few years ago.

Transportation

There is a good road network linking Tantra Hill to Achimota, Taifa and other areas. For private vehicle owners, moving from Tantra Hill to other parts of the city is very simple.  Public transportation is also quite good, and many buses and taxis link the neighbourhood to the city.

Education

St Johns Grammar School Taifa

You can find schools providing primary, secondary and tertiary education to young people living in Tantra Hill. Saint John’s Grammar Senior High School is about a three-minute drive from Tantra Hill. They offer courses in sciences, arts and business. Some prominent people who have graduated from this school include the popular comedian, DKB. The Catholic Institute of Business and Technology is a tertiary institute that offers business and finance courses. The Tantra Hill Community College also provides classes to a wide range of students. There are also many government-approved driving schools located in the area, such as the Unique Driving School, located near the Ghana Commercial Bank.

Commerce

Proximity to the Accra-Nsawam road and a large number of people moving to the western part of Accra is motivating a lot of businesses to open up in this area. Financial institutions in Tantra Hill are the GCB Bank, Ecobank, Fidelity Bank, amongst others. Numerous pharmacies, grocery shops, boutiques and other stores cater to the residents’ needs. Looking to prepare your favourite local dish? There is no need to worry because Tantra Hill is close to the Mile 7, Dome and Achimota markets. These markets offer both local and exotic ingredients that you can use to prepare your meal.

In addition to the markets is the Achimota Retail Centre (popularly known as the Achimota Mall) which located at Dome across the street from the St. John’s Grammar School, along the Accra — Nsawam Highway in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The shopping centre is owned by Delico Achimota Limited, the same group that is the majority shareholder of West Hills Mall.

Health

The Tantra Community Clinic, Saint John’s Hospital and Fertility Centre, and Aneeja Surgical and Medical Clinic provide consultations to residents living in and around Tantra Hill. Champion Divine Clinic also provides alternative health for those seeking herbal treatment for their diseases. They cure infertility, stroke, diabetes and ulcer using herbs.
