When you are ready to own your own home, your first thought might be to buy a pre-existing house. But you might be amazed at what you can afford if you decide to build your own home instead. Of course, the process of building your own home is not always sunshine and butterflies. Things can and most likely will go wrong at some point. From running into issues with permits or other delays, building your own home can come with a lot of unexpected costs. It is quite rare to find a house completed within the allocated budget and timeframe. Even when you’ve bought all required materials and consulted with the architect about what other costs need to be catered for, most times, you will find you may need to up your budget by about 40% more.
