Domestic airlines in Ghana have come a long way over the past decade. As our cities expand, the need for domestic flights has been on the rise. Ghana now has official airports in Accra, Kumasi, Paga, Sekondi-Takoradi, Ho, Obuasi, Sunyani, Tamale, Wa and Yendi. Out of all these airports, only the Kotoka International Airport, in Accra, has the capacity to receive international flights. However, all other airports are suitable for domestic flights. Since flight is the safest way to travel, we thought it nice to provide this list of functional domestic airlines in Ghana as of December 2020. Ghana currently has three functional domestic flight operators for passenger flights.

Africa World Airlines

Africa World Airlines (AWA) was one of the first airlines to make it to the Ghanaian domestic flight space. According to their website, they currently have a fleet size of 8 aircraft, 381 employees and they fly to up to ten destinations within Ghana. They have flown over 2 million passengers and won the best airline of the year in 2019. Africa World Airlines fly between Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi and Wa so anytime you need to fly to any of these cities you can always book a flight through their website.

Passion Air

Passion Air is a new airline that offers domestic flights in Ghana at very affordable rates. They have a fleet of Bombardier Q400s. These are some of the safest aircraft which are well suited for domestic flights. Passion Air currently flies to Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Sekondi-Takoradi about 5 times per day. They have an app and a website where you can book a domestic flight in Ghana. Passion Air promises to be an airline that adds value to domestic air travel in Ghana.

Gian Air

The Gian Air is a relatively new airline with a fleet of modern BAe Jetstream 32EP planes. The twin-turbo propellers pack about 2100 horsepower and a max speed of 430Km/h. The plane can take up to 18 passengers and 1 crew member. This makes for a cosy flight to your destination. Due to the size of the aircraft, you can easily charter flights for any personal engagement.

Well, the answer is not a straightforward one as it depends on a number of factors including the season in which you are booking; the class you want to fly in; and the airline that you choose. No Passenger Airlines

There are other non-passenger airline services like chartering a helicopter with the Volta River Aviation. Another airline like Air Ghana deals strictly in cargo and not human passengers.
