When you’re trying to choose a neighbourhood to live, what are the most important factors you would consider beforehand? What makes a neighbourhood special for you? Today, Jumia House brings us two interviews with local residents.  Take a look at why they believe Lapaz and Madina are the best place to live in Ghana.

Lapaz

I think Lapaz is one of the most exciting places to live for various reasons. Compared to other places, cost of living is low in Lapaz. For instance, A plate of waakye only costs 1GHS, which you cannot imagine in any other neighbourhood. In Lapaz, food is always available. No matter where you are standing or the time of the day, this makes life easier for bachelors like us.

There are health facilities all around and they are readily accessible. What comes to mind is the Ga South Municipal Hospital. The road networks are also great which makes moving about quite easy. We are famous for the lorry station which makes our neighbourhood famous. Every commuter knows about the Lapaz Station.

The Lapaz Market is only a walking distance from my home, so I walk there anytime to get ingredients to prepare my meal. Lapaz is generally peaceful and calm. I guess you never hear about thieves and other forms of violence.

When it comes to ‘chilling’, there are so many spots where you can have some drinks like Mambo, Sizzlers and Africana.

There are a few things like dusty roads and traffic here and there but generally, I think Lapaz is a good place to live.

Madina

I love Madina. Nothing will make me move out of here. I like that fact that most of us fetch water outside of our homes and through that we get to meet and interact as neighbours. At Madina, food is always available with 24/7 service 🙂

When I go out even in the midnight, I am not scared because there are always people walking in the streets. It never gets lonely or scary. You still meet people walking in the streets even at mid-night.In other neighbourhoods, you cannot play loud music. But in Madina, it’s not a big problem. I increase the volume of my tape and play loud music and nobody would complain about it. As for the pubs, there are so many of them here in Madina; I cannot even count. We have Verbs, Peter Pan etc

There are so many remedial schools; there is Ideal College, Action and Preset. University of Professional Studies, Accra is located in Madina. This shows how studious we are. I simply love Madina.

Where do you prefer to live if you had the option of choosing – Madina or Lapaz? Let us know your thoughts.
