Vacation Homes in Ghana

When was the last time you took a vacation?

In Ghana, people usually take vacations during the Christmas and Easter periods. A number of Ghanaians take vacations abroad and others prefer to visit their hometowns when they have breaks. A typical vacation for a Ghanaian implies a visit to one’s hometown to spend time with their relatives. In Ghana, the rural areas offer a serene atmosphere with a lot of greenery and good food. People taking vacations in the Central, Western, Volta and Greater Accra Regions can look forward to visiting the beautiful beaches that dot the coast.

During vacations, many Ghanaians stay with their relatives to avoid paying a fee. Accommodation in some parts of Ghana is easy to find and can be very affordable, especially if one decides to live with the local people. Guest houses are also options for those seeking affordable lodging and seeking services similar to those provided in hotels. Depending on the amount of money a vacationer wishes to spend on accommodation, there are guest houses built in different styles. Some are built as apartments, cottages, “single room selfcontained”, or compound houses.

When one moves to Accra, several real estate companies and individuals provide serviced accommodation for people taking vacations or seeking a shortterm accommodation. These apartments have beds, kitchens, and washrooms readytobeused. Serviced apartments can be found everywhere in the capital, especially in the upmarket neighbourhoods of Cantonments, Spintex and Osu in Accra.

Depending on the period a vacationer wishes to spend in a particular community, they can rent a property which is more affordable. In selecting vacation homes, it is important to consider the location, the length of the vacation as well as the amenities and services they are willing to offer.
