Trendy Interior Decoration for your Home

In a previous post, we explained the role interior designers play in making your home look spectacular, as well as the difference between an interior designer and a decorator.

There are so many simple ways of turning the interior of your room from that boring look to a modern one with just a simple touch. In this blog post, we will take you through a number of steps that will transform the interior of your house and make it look like your favourite pictures in the magazines:

Original Paint Colours

In recent times, the trend has been to avoid traditional colours for the interior of homes. Choose your colour according to the atmosphere you want to create in the room: shades of blue will give a room a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, while warm colours like yellow, orange and red give energy and joy. A current trend is to select fancy and vibrant colours, such as fuchsia, turquoise or tangerine – these colours combine beautifully with white to bring a bright, welcoming atmosphere to your home.

Furniture

If you wish to give the room a contemporary atmosphere, the furniture style is crucial. Get rid of the old-fashioned room-divider sets, which take up a lot of room. The trend is now to have as few pieces of furniture as possible. Pick a colourful leather couch to contrast the neutral colours of your living space, and an LCD or LED television set to create a focal point. This will make your living room look instantly bigger.

Windows

Large windows combined with a brightly painted room are highly fashionable right now. Much light will make you feel as if you were sitting outside while enjoying the comfort of your house. To keep the room trendy, select window blinds instead of curtains or choose some with a modern and geometrical pattern.

Colourful appliances

Have you considered a red hi-fi system or a yellow home theatre set? Avoid the conventional black and look for colourful home appliances to brighten up your space. Some touches of colour will pep the room up.

Accessories

Rugs, pillows, cushions and paintings should be carefully selected. Beautiful accessories give the room some colours and will make it cozy and personal. Select only a few items that match the overall atmosphere of the room. Too many accessories will clutter the living room.
