New By-Law Set to be Enforced in Accra Soon: “Operation Clean Your Frontage” Agenda

ACCRA INHABITANTS SET TO CLEAN THEIR FRONTAGE SOON, ACCRA REGIONAL MINISTER ANNOUNCES.  “Clean Your Frontage” By-Law to Roll Out Soon.

In line with the president’s vision to ensure that Accra becomes the cleanest city in Africa by his end of term in office. The Regional Minister and Ayawaso Central Member of Parliament, Mr. Henry Quartey has announced the initiative under the “Operation Clean your Frontage” agenda, to push the president’s vision and enable Ghanaians to have a cleaner and better Accra.

The new by-law to be rolled out was announced on Tuesday 8th June, 2021 by the Minister, speaking at the unveiling ceremony of high capacity disinfection trucks that should aid in dealing with unsanitary conditions and tackle waste management challenges in the Greater Accra Region. This, according to the Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, aims at involving inhabitants of the region to embrace fully and participate in the “Make Accra Great Again” agenda.

He said, “Mr. President if you permit me, with the collaboration of the Regional Coordinating Council in the Greater Accra, very soon, the assemblies will pass a bye-law called “Operation Clean Your Frontage” thus, everybody will be responsible for their frontage.

Residents in the Greater Accra Region will soon be required to clean their own frontage and surroundings under the new by-laws to be passed by assemblies within the region.

He noted that for Accra to work again, there is a need for a collective effort, and change in people’s attitude towards their environment.

“It is, therefore, important to engage in constant education, enforcement of our bi-laws and also having all hands on deck,” he added.

He applauded the Jospong Group of Companies and its affiliates for their unceasing efforts in the fight to curb this menace.

Chief Executive of the Jospong Group of companies, Joseph Siaw Agyapong, on his part, said Ghana leads the rest of Africa in the provision of waste recycling.
