Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is embarking on a nationwide data collection exercise to gather data on properties for purposes of informing taxation on persons who own, rent or occupy properties.
This exercise is according to Section 33 ( 1 & 2) of the Revenue Administration Act, 2016 ( Act 915) which reads;
“For the purpose of a tax law, the Commissioner General shall, for reasonable cause, have, without prior notice, full and free access to premises, documents or assets”.
Furthermore, officers of the Rent Tax Taskforce of the GRA which can be identified in GRA inscribed jackets will be visiting areas to conduct interviews and inspect properties in order to gather accurate information for tax purposes.
GRA entreats the general public, especially owners and occupiers of rented properties to accord the necessary assistance to the officers and cooperate with them.
