Keeping your Home Clean With Less Stress

Keeping your home clean is a chore most of us love to hate, but all of us are really pleased when we find ourselves in a home environment that is spick and span clean! Cleaning up shouldn’t be so daunting. Break it up into daily habits and routines and in spite of your messy family, you will have a very clean house at all times.
By developing the following habits, the house can stay cleaner and you’ll save yourself some work.

      1. Make your bed every morning. Your bed occupies a lot of space in your room, making it look tidy will make your room look so much cleaner. Even if you just pull the covers up to cover everything and don’t completely make your bed.
      2. Do laundry daily in the morning. If you have a washing machine installed at home, every morning, before breakfast, put a load of clothes in. Once breakfast is over, put the clothes into the dryer and you’re all set. No dirty laundry left behind to mess up the look of the house. Do a load of clothes every day.
      3. Dry your sink.

Just after using the bathroom sink (brushing your teeth, washing out your hair, etc.), dry your hands, and take a few seconds to dry your sink as well. It will remove spots, prevent stains and, generally, keep it looking nice. You can do this for your bathtub and all other polished porcelain/stone surfaces as well.

      4. Leave your shoes at the door. Throughout the day, you’ve been busy walking from place to place. Your shoes would surely have picked up dirt, especially, now the rains are returning. Mud stuck to your shoes make it easier to track in dirt, faeces, grass, debris, leaves, and much more. Taking off your shoes by the entrance reduces the number of times you will need to clean your floors as they won’t get dirty that often.
      5. Don’t get duplicates. You should try not to splurge when you go shopping. Keep yourself in check and buy only one of what you need. Especially with electronic devices. The extra one will most likely not be used for years, as you reserve it for a rainy day. And while it waits for its day in the sun, it will serve as a dust magnet until the day you notice it, realise it doesn’t work anymore, (probably from the dust combining with moisture to cause and speed up rust) and throw it away as the piece of junk it has become. All of which could have been avoided and money saved if you had just bought one to start with.
      6. Buy fewer items with packaging.  When you buy something in a box or package, after you take out the item, you still have the package left behind. If it cannot serve some practical use as a container or something else of use around the house, it just becomes trash to be thrown out. It could also clutter up your space and make cleaning difficult if you’re the type to keep it in case you want to return the product. The less packaging you buy, the clutter in your house and the less trash you’re burdened with.

      7. Have a weekly cleaning hour. Set aside one hour at least once every week to handle things like mopping the floor, cleaning the windows, etc. Having this become a routine with you can help motivate you to clean even when you’re not in the mood.
      8. Purge…ruthlessly. If you find yourself surrounded by annoying clutter, it would be too tasking to get rid of it all at once, especially, if your reason for having all that around in the first place is because of your fear they might come in handy a minute after you throw them out. Pace yourself: Every day, ask yourself, “What am I willing to let go of today?” Put one item (or more) into a box to give away. Find an orphanage or some other place where the items will be appreciated more than they currently are in your home. Not only will you keep a clean home, every item you put in that box will make someone else very happy.

Following the above tips, you’ll find your home is almost always spotless and inviting. And when cleaning time arrives, you find it’s actually enjoyable as you have so much less work to do than you did before implementing our tips.
