How to Prepare for a House Guest

Hosting guests in your home require a lot of preparation and making your guests feel welcome.  If you have been a house guest before then you know how important it is to feel comfortable and at home in someone else’s space. Meqasa.com scoured around and gathered five tips to help you prepare for your next house guest. Here they are:

  1. Compound/Front Porch: Hide all unsightly items and make sure your compound and porch are clean. First impressions are everything!
  2. Hallway: If you usually leave your shoes and bags in the hallway, clear them away till your guests leave. You do not want the guest to feel cramped and like those, he/she is intruding on your personal space
  3. Bedroom: Lay the bed with clean sheets and put an extra set in the cupboard. We recommend providing your guest with two pillows. One firm and one soft. Layer blankets on top of the sheets; light and heavy.
  4. Bathroom Essentials: Stock up the bathroom with toilet paper. It will be embarrassing for both you and the guest if you run out of toilet paper. As an added bonus stock the guest bathroom with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and body wash. Just in case your guest forgets to bring along their toiletries.
  5. Kitchen: Be sure to have a variety of morning beverages and juice. Stock up on bottled water and preferably have a mix of sparkling and still water. You can also add to the mix moderately priced wine. Some guest love snacks so, be sure to have some snacks in your kitchen. Lastly, inquire about any allergies or specific diet your guest is on before you go food shopping.

Most importantly communicate with your guest, that matters more than what we have listed above. There you have it Jumia House’s five tips to help you prepare for a house guest.
