Ghana Interior Design: Five Bedroom Arrangement Tips

The bedroom for some is where they spend most of their time in a house.  Typically a person is required to get up to about 8 to 10 hours of sleep at night, which then means on average you would spend a minimum of 8 hours in your bedroom space.  It is essential then to keep your bedroom space cozy and inviting for the relaxation you look forward to after that long day.

Jumia House Ghana shares some exciting tips to keep your bedroom cozy and functional.

  1.    Create a Focal Point

Regardless of the size of your room it is always important to set a focal point, this is typically the area that generates the most or immediate attention and will also be the focus for the rest of your design and arrangement.  The ultimate focal point area for many is the bed area as the bed is usually the biggest piece of furniture in a bedroom.  The best space to place your bed is in the middle of the largest wall with no windows blocking and this area and can be finished up with frames or bedside tables. If you choose however to be unconventional, you may decide to turn the TV wall into the focal point instead.  You can choose to design the wall with colorful paint or wallpaper designs or simply put up frames on the sides of your mounted TV, creating that space as your ‘wow-wall’.

  1.    Create and Utilize Space

Now that we have our bed in place, we can now work with the rest of the space left in the room, remembering to always leave enough room for easy movements and not blocking walkways.  You can now bring in smaller furniture such as the bedside table or nightstand beside the bed.  It is important to keep the room clutter-free by maybe getting dual-functioning furniture such as storage furniture to help store the little items away.

  1.    Base Arrangements on Function

Another critical element to consider is the function of your bedroom.  What would you typically or intend to use your bedroom space for in addition to sleeping as a primary activity. For instance if you enjoy sleeping in the dark, you will need to consider placing your bed away from direct light either from outside lights like maybe street lights or from your neighbors.  If you’re more of a TV person then you may consider placing the TV facing your bed.  If you like to apply make-up or dress up in your bedroom then get a dresser with a mirror as additional furniture and place it where light hits the room.  If you like to read in your comfort zone then consider creating a small reading space or nook and placing lamps in this space.

  1.    Choose Appropriate Paint Color

Some rooms invite in more natural light, hence come off brighter than others.  This is usually due to the location of the room and the placement of windows and doors, which help regulate the amount of light that enter a room.  It is critical to consider all this when determining the color for your bedroom.  Naturally dark rooms require lighter, brighter and crisp color paint colors to help brighten the room.  Brighter rooms on the other hand can afford to lay with darker paint colors or design.  It is always safer however to go with basic white or ivory paint colors if you want to play with brighter colors with your room.

  1.    Choose Appropriate Drapes/Curtains

Great curtains or drapes are an amazing accessory to your bedroom.  These curtains however can either make or break your bedroom and its décor.  Always opt for curtains that complement your room and its design and not contrast or block its beauty.  If you prefer to sleep in the dark, then go for layered or thick curtains to help block light.  If you love natural light then get lighter or brighter curtains.  It’s simple as that.

For some the bedroom is a multi-functional space that could serve as a mini-office, reading room, a recreational, TV room or even a miniature dining space at least for some breakfast-in-bed mornings.

Always go for arrangements or décor that best suit your personality, that way you can enjoy your space and not easily get bored of it.
