Once traditional breakfast time rolls over, we officially refer to the meal before lunch as brunch (breakfast + lunch = brunch) and in a city where there are countless serving restaurants, the options are equally endless when it comes down to that ideal spot for getting brunch.

Interestingly, the majority of these restaurants are located in or around residential communities where luxury houses in Ghana are rented out, making it very convenient for individuals who reside in or near such areas to easily stroll over for coffee, pancakes etc.

One’s location is never a problem as these restaurants have takeaway and delivery options just in case you or your clique want to brunch indoors at home.

It is unclear exactly when brunch became a thing but it’s become popularly accepted that few things beat a good brunch, and we love it.

If you are in Accra and in the mood for some good brunch, here are a few faithful spots we know and recommend.

CAFE ACCRA

Cheer to the weekend at this spot located at East Legon with spectacular meals proving that however you are having brunch: alone, with friends or with family, it should scream royalty!

First and foremost, walking into Cafe Accra feels like a day in mama’s kitchen with an aroma to whet your appetite! The warm attitude of the staff is very welcoming. The unique names on the menu simply make Cafe Accra a must-visit place to have brunch. Some menu items include: brunchin’, sand it up, sparkle, high five and, the never disappointing, rise and shine taste good! If you are vegan, not to worry, there is something for you at Cafe Accra. For example, the English breakfast which includes beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado and fresh juice.

BREAKFAST 2 BREAKFAST (B2B)

Before we dive into B2B, when you get there, ask for the grilled chicken to be extra spicy if you decide to have some chicken for brunch. You can thank me later!

B2B is a fantastic restaurant with its pricing complementing what they serve. Located on the famous Oxford street in Osu with countless furnished houses for rent, the 24/7 around the clock restaurant is a great location to brunch and an ideal restaurant for the lot. The location makes it a great place to have business meetings as well over their delicious spicy chicken wings and french fries.

CAPITOL CAFE AND RESTAURANT

Capitol is famous for Turkish and International cuisines. With a strictly no alcohol policy, Capitol is located in the heart of Cantonments and provides a warm conducive atmosphere for family and friends looking to have a lovely time over breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.

Brunch can be enjoyed in the restaurant with creative mocktails, smoothies and frozen foods in the bar area or garden. Another option is to simply treat yourself to some pastries or cake from the bakery section. The options are endless with Capitol Cafe and Restaurant not forgetting it’s located in a residential community that’s very attractive to people looking for houses for sale.

LA GALETTE RESTAURANT AND BAKERY

With an exceptional ambience, La Galette restaurant and bakery provides tasty Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisines coupled with highly professional staff ready to attend to your every culinary need.

At an easy-to-spot location in Spintex, this quiet restaurant is conducive for friends and family looking to hang out and make up for lost time over affordable meals.

CUPPA CAPPUCCINO

Cuppa Cappuccino is a little haven with great music, tasty meals; and specially designed for individuals looking to get away from the world bustle to relax and some might say soothe the soul in comfort.

Located in the cozy Airport Residential Area, this restaurant is ideal for brunch and is a great place for romantic gestures if you’re looking to propose to your loved one (in case you were looking for the perfect location). Business meetings can also be held at Cuppa Cappuccino.

BREAKFAST BAR

At the Breakfast Bar they make sure you do brunch right! Picture an island placement with a centre kitchen, think breakfast-only bar. Open for business as early as 6am, you can always slide in to have brunch to start the day. They serve a variety of meals including pasta, soups, sauces, pizza and more. The coffee is superb! Just be sure to get there early and while everything is still fresh and warm.

Food is highly important but a great atmosphere and comfort definitely go a long way to improve the experience. Brunch at these locations may leave you craving and longing for the next brunch weekend! In case you discover new spots we failed to mention here, leave them in the comment section for us and other readers to check them out and assess. If enough hype is built around them, we may include them in an update to this list.
