5 Painting Tips to Consider in Ghana

In our previous post, we showed you five mistakes you should never make when it comes to interior design in Ghana. Today, we are asking the following questions:

Are you moving into a house? Do you think your old room is looking drab and boring? Are you wondering how you could make that room look so cool and exciting? Here are 5 simple tips you should consider if you answered yes to the above questions:

  1. Start Small

If you have no idea as to the colour of room you want, you need to begin small. Pick any colour and test it on your bathroom walls. If you do not like the colour, you can go back and repaint it. Don’t get angry with yourself if you do not like the colour you chose, just enjoy the process and see it as a learning experience.

  2. Mood

What kind of mood do you want to feel when you enter the room? Do you want to feel rested and at peace when you are in your bedroom? Then you need to go for softer colours like blue. If you want to create that feeling of excitement, energy and a sociable atmosphere then some warm and cheerful colours will do.

  3. Test Your Colour Choice

It’s your room. You can always go out of your comfort zone and choose some wild, vivid colours for your walls and some dramatic colours for those ceilings.

  4. Consider Lighting

You need to consider the amount of light in your room. Are there very large windows in the room? Then you need a cooler colour.  Strong colours are overpowering and you need to remember that daylight shows the real colours of the room.

  5. Polychromatic Colour Scheme

What are your views about one colour scheme for that room? Are they boring to you? You can use varied colours from a particular group to create the finishing touches. You can also use closely related colours or a single colour to create different finishes.
