June showers might bring July flowers with little sunshine and beautiful cozy weather but what can you engage in on a beautiful rainy day in your luxury apartment or beautiful home with family or, perhaps, friends?
The stormy weather shouldn’t stop the fun. Matter of fact, June rains are something to look forward to. Just the possibility of escaping from April’s heat is enough reason.
It is well known that this is the perfect time to create your perfect flower garden: The rain will water your garden and help cut excess cost on water bills whilst leaving your compound and the self compound home a beaut.
The rains might make it impossible for pubs, lounges, restaurants and clubs to record the usual turn out numbers, however, don’t be surprised to find some pubs and such flourishing who have found ways of reducing the impact of the rains.
Before getting into it, it is advisable, especially for people living in flood-prone parts of the capital, Accra, to take caution and protect their homes against floods.
With that being said, that scheduled program sitting in your calendar for days and months might suddenly be cancelled with the possibilities of a heavy downpour. Even though that is a total buzzkill, the day shouldn’t get wasted. Here are a few interesting ways to keep you occupied should the disappointment embrace you on the next drizzly.
MAKE YOURSELF A BUBBLE BATH/ REVAMP YOUR BATHROOM
As an adult, slipping into the bath/shower for a warm bath to the sound of your favourite genre of music is perfect on a rainy day. Not only does a hot shower loosen your muscles and clear out oil, it helps open up your nasal passages to relieve nasal congestion.
If you prefer more activity, you could revamp your bathroom by taking out empty containers to make space for new products. Whether you live in a rental property or a property you own, a bubble bath is perfect with a bathroom design. Why not revamp the bathroom on that fruitful rainy day to suit your preference?
GET WASTED
The wholesome kind. I’m talking about mini bars at home on the balcony! Nothing beats sipping on your favourite drink, cocktail or smoothie whilst watching the city receive a rejuvenating shower in the cozy weather. Take that time to reflect on yourself. Self love, self appreciation and encouragement will go a long way for your health.
PLAN YOUR DREAM VACATION OR YOUR NEXT STEPS
That family vacation which has been pending can finally come to light with a detailed plan on that rainy day, either with the whole family or friends. Family or not, you can plan your vacation and day dream before it comes to light. It’s a free world and the rain has cleared up your day so why not spend time on what you want.
Open your laptop, your notepad or whatever note-taking device you prefer and plot out where you want to go, when you want to go and how you will make that dream come true with a budget.
Rain equals inevitable indoor time. What better time will you have to jot things down, plan and organise? Organising and planning ahead could be a very beneficial way to spend a rainy day.
Habits, lifestyle and a busy schedule make little room to make a detailed plan. Nonetheless, it’s never too late to start.
LONG DEEP NAP
There is absolutely no harm in lazing about on a beautiful day with beautiful weather doing nothing! Especially if you have been working around the clock, take that deep long nap now that the chance has presented itself.
It could be in the morning, afternoon or evening but you can be certain the soothing sound of the rain guarantees you refreshing sleep.
CONNECT WITH FRIENDS
Most often we are busy and hardly keep in touch with friends and family even though there is a general understanding that everyone gets busy sometimes. The rainy day is the perfect time to call that friend or leave a text message. Hopefully, the rain has slowed down their day a bit and they’re likely to be available or down to catch up.
These may all seem appealing and interesting, but they certainly don’t cover everything. You may have come up with your own activities and ways to relax and chill on a beautiful rainy day. We would love to know what you do. Let us know in the comments or feel free to tag us.
